There’s been a lot of talk about Industry 4.0 in recent years – and we’ve been listening!
Industry 4.0 represents a new era of manufacturing that leverages advanced technologies to optimize production processes, increase efficiency, and ultimately reduce costs. Many organizations already use metrics such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to track and compare performance of their production assets, and they are looking to dig deeper into the “why” behind these metrics at the machine level. MTI’s team of experts has taken the time to understand the challenges and opportunities our customers face when it comes to optimizing production. Through conversations, it became clear there was a need for a new solution that complements factory OEE requirements and provides actionable, machine-level data that can be used to optimize friction welder output and ensure its consistently delivering the required performance – and value – for their organization.
Our new MTInterface™ Service Level Agreement (SLA) does just that – it helps organizations better understand the performance of their friction welding machine while monitoring conditions that signal availability, productivity, or quality issues. The MTInterface system centralizes the collection of machine level data in a dashboard [shown below] that provides at-a-glance views of key performance indicators. This dashboard is accessible from any location on an authorized user device — including computers, mobile phones, and tablet devices.
But the MTInterface system is much more than a dashboard of charts and data – it also includes comprehensive service support to help identify and address potential machine performance issues before they start to negatively impact quality or production. Richard Jones, Managing Director for MTI, explains, “MTI has always offered Preventative Maintenance Packages (PMP) as part of our service offerings. Our new MTInterface SLA packages are advanced service offerings that take a proactive approach in helping our customers increase productivity and profitability through machine data collection and analysis.”
How it Works
It all starts with the Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT), which is the use of internet-connected devices and sensors that enable real-time data monitoring and analysis. Richard further explains, “IIoT has been game-changing technology that has revolutionized the way manufacturers operate by enabling the digital transformation of industrial processes. MTI is on the leading edge, using the latest technology so our customers can gain valuable insights into their operations, make informed decisions, and identify performance improvement opportunities.”
Data from your MTI friction welding machine is collected and then securely transmitted to the cloud so an experienced MTI Support Engineer can also see active issues and access data for analysis. Our service experts review the data and provide monthly recommendations for improving machine performance, increasing uptime, and upcoming maintenance needs.
The MTInterface system includes a full Machine Performance and Condition Monitoring connection, dashboard of key performance metrics, real-time monitoring and alerts, monthly service action reports and priority service support including remote access. When you opt for one of our MTInterface SLA packages, you gain access to a variety of benefits, such as:
- Remote Support: Vuforia Chalk facilitates the troubleshooting process between MTI service experts and field technicians, enabling our experts to analyze a machine without having to travel onsite.
- Priority Help Desk: As an MTInterface subscriber, the MTI Priority Help Desk will respond to you within 4 business hours and have an update on a resolution or schedule within 24 business hours.
- Add-on data options: Customized options are available, ranging from plant data integration to vibration sensor monitoring to barcode serialization for part traceability.
If you are looking to get the most out of your friction welding machine, we offer three baseline SLA packages:
The MTInterface system also features access to MTI Discover, an innovative online training platform where employee training can be managed from anywhere in the world. Organizations can onboard new employees quickly and efficiently with modules that focus on machine build, machine service, engineering, process development – and more! MTI Discover uses a combination of courses, videos, and quizzes to assess knowledge retention.
If your organization is looking for a fully customized training program, we can help with that too.
How to Get Started
All new Rotary friction welding machines come equipped with the hardware and software to support the MTInterface system and include a complimentary subscription so you can experience the benefits of MTInterface during the machine’s warranty period. And even if you have an older machine, we can look to see what is needed to support the MTInterface System or you’re more than welcome to browse our machine refurbishment offering.
