SOUTH BEND, IN - Manufacturing Technology, Inc. (MTI) announced that the company has finalized the acquisition of Friction Welding Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (FWT), a Direct Drive Friction Welding company located in Pune, India. The acquisition is the result of a successful multi-year partnership that was formalized in 2017 with a line of Direct Drive Friction Welding machines launched under the Spartan brand for MTI.
Building on that strong foundation, FWT and MTI are well aligned from a cultural perspective with a focus on supporting and developing employees and their families, as well as their local community. The acquisition also allows for MTI to expand their product offering and global footprint with the addition of 40,000 square feet of space in India.
The acquisition provides additional resources for FWT to expand their presence in the markets they serve today. Yatin Tambe, Founder and Director of FWT adds, “MTI and FWT are both family-owned companies that value innovation, responsibility, and customer relationships. This cultural synergy along with complementary product offerings will allow the FWT brand to grow and expand in the markets we serve today.”
The key members of the management team at FWT will remain the same throughout the merger and the company is dedicated to upholding the same high standards of quality craftsmanship and customer relations today, as it has for decades.

MTI, who services customers globally, identified an opportunity to further expand their Direct Drive Friction Welding product offering and contract manufacturing services into Europe and North America through the acquisition of FWT. Both machines and services will be sold by MTI as part of the FWT product line, leveraging MTI’s worldwide sales network.
